As July 4 approaches, satellite engineer David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) investigates a level parent 3000 miles approaching the Earth. Fortunately, 20 years ago, countries around the world began to recover alien technology to develop a massive defense. When attacking alien invaders with unprecedented power, to the President of the United States, the team of scientists and brave pilots into action to save the planet from a seemingly invincible enemy. Anyway, this leads to a new looking ship coming through a wormhole that doesn’t resemble the previous ship at all. I can’t go into that without going into major spoiler territory but it goes back to what I said about a big reveal later. I was very pleased that the film went a bit into the alien mythology and the bigger picture of the universe. It adds to the whole ID4 universe in a big way. There weren’t many problems I had with this film. If anything, the comedy was a bit to stressed at times and some of the CGI/green screen backgrounds could have been much improved. It looked in some scenes that the backdrop looked a bit fake behind them and that they were standing on a green screen studio stage. I believe this could have been improved.
