iZombie is a gory horror comedy, satire, detective drama/procedural all in one well defined package. After a solid pilot the show goes full swing with it’s concept, which is thus, promising and ambitious med student Liv Moore uncharacteristically goes to a boat party with some colleges one night, unfortunately a zombie outbreak occurs on the boat, leaving Liv as one of the undead, still able to go about her routine as a person but having to chow down on human brains to both keep alive and keep the full animistic force of her zombism at bay, to obtain said brains whilst avoiding having to kill people for them she ditches her career and starts up working at a mortuary where she can live on a diet of dead people brains. But as a side affect eating said brains causes Liv to experience the deceased memory’s and even (in some extremely funny asides) taking on their various personality traits whilst using the memory’s as a means to solve their murders, with the help of her boss, the enthusiastic and hugely likable Ravi. This show is an instant gem that just gets better with each episode and shows a strong handle on the increasingly dark and bloody horror stuff whilst being hilarious and hugely enjoyable, thanks in large part to the lovely and wonderfully charismatic Rose McIver as Liv, who shows a wide range of brilliant comic skill, terrific acting and whiplash delivery of Thomas’s fast, brilliantly witty dialogue. Your new fave show has arrived.
